I was so excited when I saw
this board to help me plan my dinners for the week. I get so tired of trying to figure out what I'm having for dinner tonight, and I know my family gets tired of me asking them. This takes all the guess work out of it. Now I don"t have to spend all day thinking about dinner (Bethany Frankel in her book, A Place of yes, calls this noise).

THE ORIGINAL |
I created the board below for my daughter-in-law, Anne-Marie, for Christmas. Then she surprised me on my birthday and made me one. This was fun to make. Took a couple of hours, but you could do it in less time if you have a plan of exactly what you want to do. I tend to create as I go. The most difficult part is choosing the colors you want to use. The original did not have a big enough notepad for a grocery list, so I found the Mary Engelbreit notepad at Michaels in the $1 bin and it already had a magnet on it! So, all you need is mod podge, a magnetized dry erase board, 2 sheets of scrapbook paper, a small envelope,( or you can make one),7magnets,( I found these round magnets and put the days of the week stickers on them. Anne-Marie actually found the days of the week magnets at target), also ribbon, chip board letters or tags (let your creativity flow). The two big silver magnets that came with the board can be used to hold your coupons. Also we chose to use the large magnets it came with to stick on the back of the board so it can stick to the refrigerator, unlike the original created a hanger. Now mod podge your scrapbook paper on the dry erase board. Mod podge the envelope to the top corner. Embellish as much as you desire. Add your days of the week magnets and add your menu items. Now your week of meals are planned. Make a grocery list, go to the store and clear up your noise too. I hope you have fun making this meal organizer. It has made my life easier and it is a great gift too!

I like the idea of having choices of meals in the envelope. I didn't realize that was there!

ReplyDeleteI absolutely love mine and it has really helped with meal planning and also budgeting for our groceries since we know exactly what we are having and what ingredients we need.
